Make It Monday #57, Colored Kissing

Hello! Happy St. Patrick's Day! No. No green cards from me. I am just stopping in to share the card I made for this week's Make It Monday, which is about Colored Kissing. I always wanted to try this technique, and was glad to have a reason to finally try it! I worked on this card a little after work a few nights this week, and finally finished it up this morning. I am not thrilled with the card, but I like how the Kissing technique turned out! I found that I don't own a lot of stamps that this technique will work well with, so when I stumbled upon the On My Couch set and saw the solid couch, I decided to roll with that! This is what I came up with:

I used On My Couch and Background Basics: Newsprint for the technique.
Patterned Paper is Echo Park, This and That.

Thank you so much for stopping by! Have a GREAT weekend!

a jump start on Father's Day

Before Mother's Day? Crazy, I know! You see, last weekend I was sitting at my craft desk playing with Background Basics: Medallions. I just can't get enough of that stamp set, and I love playing with different color combos with it! So, I just sat there stamping different color combo mats on Saturday night. When I went back in on Sunday, I picked one of my stamped backgrounds I really liked, Dark Chocolate and Canyon Clay, and made a card with it. It seemed like it would make a good masculine card, which I seem to be on a masculine kick lately, and this is what I came up with:

I also stamped the smaller of the Medallions with Simply Chartreuse ink on SC paper, and die cut with Turning A New Leaf. The sentiment is Happy Day onto Limitless Layers Ovals.

I hope to get a lot of stamping in this weekend! I have a card sitting on my desk for this week's Make It Monday that just needs a little finishing up, so hopefully I'll be back to post that tomorrow!

Have a GREAT weekend!!!

A quick card

Hey all! Happy Monday! Are you hanging in there after loosing an hour of sleep? I'm hanging in there, but I did not like it when my alarm was going off at what felt like 4am! At least it will feel like I am getting home earlier, right?
Anyway, here is a quick card I made with some new goodies I got in the mail on Friday!

The patterened paper, felt and dies were the new goodies I got from Ellen Hutson. That felt is really nice and inexpensive! I got that tan/kraft color, and 2 shades of blue similar to Enchanted Evening and Spring Rain. You get a large sheet for $1.60 or $2.00! I will definitely be buying more! I don't know if you can tell in the picture, but my Framed Out frame has glossy accents on it, like Maile showed a couple weeks ago. I liked the way that looked. I hope you like it, too! Thanks so much for stopping by, and I'll be back soon with another card!

Supplies:(All Papertrey Ink, unless otherwise noted)
Paper: Kraft, Stamper's Select, Studio Calico patterned paper
Stampes: Framed Out #1, Modern Wood Mats
Dies: Framed Out #1, Double-ended banner, Edger #1, Memory Box flowers
Other: Rustic Cream Button twine, Felt

Have a GREAT day!

Wishing You...

Happy Friday, card lovers!!! I don't know about you, but I am so ready to start my weekend! No big plans, my husband has to work tomorrow, so it'll give me a good chance to catch up on some of my shows and clear up some space on the DVR. I love me some Housewives! Especially Beverly Hills, OC, New York, Miami, DC. Am I forgetting any? I never really can get into ATL or NJ. I do also love Bethany Ever After! Anyone else watch these guilty pleasures? I also have a small order from Ellen Hutson waiting at home for me, so I look forward to playing with some new goodies, as well! Very fast shipping! I placed my order on Tuesday around 4:30 pm. I got a shipping notice within an hour and my package arrived Friday morning in Mississippi, all the way from Washington! It was my first time shopping there, but it won't be my last!
Anyway, on to my card! My friend and co-worker asked me to make a card for her niece, who is turning 12 tomorrow. So, I thought it would be a good excuse to give a Spinner card a try!

It really spins well using the coasters that PTI sells! I also cut the big butterfly with a coaster, and gave him a couple layers of a smaller butterfly cut out of vellum, and embossed in polka dots, and the assembled butterfly was misted with Studio Calico Shine, to give it some sparkle. It was a lot of fun to put together and I definitely need more stamps that will work well for 'spinning'!
I snapped this picture quickly this morning, so I didn't get a chance to capture the inside which says, "a birthday that's as special as you".

Thank you so much for taking the time to visit me! I hope you have a wonderful weekend!

Supplies: (All supplies are Papertrey Ink, unless otherwise noted)
Stamps: Movers & Shakers Sentiments, Beautiful Butterflies, Fillable Frames #3
Paper: Aqua Mist, Echo Park patterned paper, vellum from stash
Dies: Beautiful Butterflies, Spinner Die, Fillable Frames #3
Other: Queen & Co. pearls, Studio Calico Shine

The One and Only You...

Hey there and Happy Monday to you! I hope you had a nice, weekend! Mine was the usual, 'went to fast' kinda weekend! It actually started a little early on Friday, because there was severe storms coming through the area. Everything started closing down early, and we got sent home from work around 1! However, we were very lucky, and had no tornadoes around here! I have become irrationally scared of tornadoes since moving here 3 1/2 years ago! My husband and I are actually talking about digging a storm shelter! One time, a year or so ago, there was a bad storm, and Tornado warnings and I was so scared I packed up my whole craft room to try to save it! And to think Tornado season just started!
So, I have been in a little creative funk, so I'm hoping to push through that pretty quickly! Luckily, I still had this card from last weekend, that I never got around to sharing yet. It was a 'just because' card for my husband, and because I wanted to play more with my Zipper dies. *wink* And this is what I came up with:

And this is what it looked like after my husband 'unzipped' it:

I am just loving that Background Basics Medallions set! I used Hawaiian Shores, Simply Chartreuse, and Smokey Shadow inks. I am so glad to finally have a good Simply Chartreuse ink!!! The Smokey Shadow is very dark, it looks practically like black. I know Betsy recommends stamping it off once to get a lighter shade...I haven't tried that yet

Supplies: (All supplies are Papertrey ink, unless otherwise noted)
Paper: Stamper's Select, Simply Chartreuse, Hawaiian Shores
Stamps: Simply You, BB:Medallions, Happy Day for frame
Dies: Zipper, Happy Day

That's all for today! Hopefully I can squeeze in a little crafting after work this week some, so I can have more to share soon! Thank you so much for stopping by! Have a great day!

Beautiful Butterflies

Hello and Happy Leap Day! I hope you are having a good week so far! I am just stopping in to share a card I made last weekend using the Beautiful Butterflies stamp set by Maile Belles. Love this stamp set! Those butterflies are so fun to stamp and the font and sentiments are favorites already! I made a quick one layer card:
A little masking and scoring and that's it! The inks are Aqua Mist, Summer Sunrise, Berry Sorbet, Simply Chartreuse, and the sentiment is Smokey Shadow.

Thanks so much for stopping by! I'll be back tomorrow with another zipper card!

Feb 2012 Blog Hop

Hello, Blog Hoppers! Hope you're having a nice Saturday! I am just stopping in to submit my card for this month's Blog Hop with Papertrey Ink! The theme this month is interactive cards. I received my February release goodies on Thursday, so I got to work today using the new Zipper dies. Here is what I came up with:

I started with a Rustic Cream card base, and stamped the new Background Basics: Medallions in Raspberry Fizz and Orange Zest. Very fun background to stamp! I will be using this set a lot! I then used the zipper die on Summer Sunrise, and matted with Orange Zest. I stamped the sentiments from Movers & Shakers Sentiments, added the little cake from a Tag-it's, put a couple drops of Stickles on the candle flames, and added the buttons. I planned on 'unzipping' the card and taking a picture of  the sentiment underneath, but when it came time, I just couldn't bring myself to do it!!!! I hope you like it, and appreciate you stopping by my blog! I am off to hop around and see what all you talented peeps did!
