October Papertrey Ink Blog Hop

Blog-hop-logo
Good Morning! Today is Papertrey Ink's monthly blog hop, and I haven't participated in a couple months, actually I haven't even updated my blog in a couple months, so I really wanted to play along!

The challenge this month Non-Traditional Holiday Colors, where we were given the choice between some gorgeous color combos to create our project with! So fun!

I chose the following color combo:

Color-group-2

I just love that wreath!

And this was the card I came up with!

I stamped the Holly leaves in Hawaiian Shores on the Aqua Mist mat and stamped the berries in Raspberry Fizz. The Damask Snowflakes are new to me this year, so I'm sure I'll be using them a lot! I am not sure those little rusty jingle bells really 'go' with this particular card, but they are also new to me this year, and I just *had* to use them!

Thanks so much for stopping by! I can't wait to see what everyone else created with these inspiring color combos!

Boo!

Last weekend I started on Halloween cards with the intention of playing along with a Challenge Heather Nichols had going on for a Mr. Bones Halloween Spook-out. Unfortunately, I never got around to posting...so I thought I'd share it today.

This is my first time posting from the iPhone Blogger app, so hopefully it is ok.

I have a few more cards to share, so will be back soon! Thanks so much for stopping by today and hope you're having a fabulous weekend!

Make It Monday #73

Happy Friday! I needed a quick card last night for Mamaw's birthday, and I remembered this week's Make It Monday is stamping on patterned paper, so this is what I ended up with:

Honestly, I'm not 100% in love with this one. I was very rushed, so there was no experimenting with colors, no do-overs. I just had to go with what ever happened! That is what is bad about waiting until the last minute!
Anyway, the gingham patterned paper is Lily Bee, I thought it was a nice compliment to Fine Linen, so that is my card base. I stamped the flourishy vine from TANL in Ocean Tides.

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Paper: Fine Linen, Stamper's Select, Rustic White, Lily Bee patterned

Happy Independence Day

Hello and Happy 4th of July! I hope you are having a nice day! I spent a little time cleaning, and a little time in my craft room today. This evening we are going down the street for a traditional family gathering. I found what looks to be a tasty Feta Dip on Pinterest I will be making to bring.
While I had a little extra time in my craft room today, I decided to whip up a little card to honor today. I cannot take 100% credit for the idea for this card. I remember maybe last year? seeing Amber from Damask Love using her Botanical Silhouettes dandelion flowers to make fireworks, so I decided to give it a whirl, since I have no actual fireworks stamps.

Thanks so much for stopping by! Oh, and a little tip I heard before I go...I heard if you blow one of your hands off with fireworks, you get an extra day off work! ;-) Sick, I know. I do have a bit of a twisted sense of humor!

Supplies: (All Papertrey Ink, unless otherwise noted)
Paper: Enchanted Evening, Stamper's Select
Stamps: Botanical Silhouette's, Happy Day
Dies: Happy Day
Ink: Pure Poppy, Enchanted Evening

Make it Monday #72

Hello and Happy Hump Day! Over the half way point to the weekend! Yay!

I'm just stopping in to share a quick card I made for this weeks Make it Monday, in which Dawn is challenging us to Step up our Embellishments! I have missed quite a few MIM's now, and with my June goodies making a landing on Monday (I ordered late, because I was out of town), I just had to play along! And this is what I came up with:

And here is a side view where you can hopefully see the dimension a little more:
I stepped up this embellishment on my card by adding lots of layers. I also heat embossed with clear EP the Pretty Peonies butterfly, and the Fancy Flourish. I stamped the Mat Stack 5 with the Mat Stack 5 Collection. It is a little hard to tell in the photo, but the bling matches the Winter Wisteria doily better IRL. Anyway, I hope you like my interpretation of this weeks challenge! I had a lot of fun with this card! I will be back soon with some cards I made and never posted using On The Farm.

Thanks for taking the time to visit and have a GREAT rest of your day!

Supplies: (All Papertrey Ink, unless otherwise noted)
Paper: Stamper's Select, Raspberry Fizz, Hawaiian Shores, Winter Wisteria, Raspberry Fizz Pattern Pack
Stamps: Pretty Peonies, BB: Rainbows, We Go Together, Fancy Flourishes, Mat Stack 5 Collection
Dies: Mat Stack 5 and Layerz, Pretty Peonies, Fancy Flourishes, Doily Details
Ink: Raspberry Fizz, Winter Wisteria, Smokey Shadow, Hawaiian Shores, Versamark

Papertrey Ink June Blog Hop

Blog-hop-logo

Good Morning on this Monday morning, blog hoppers! Life has been kind of hectic around here lately, and last month I made a card for the hop, but was about 2 minutes late in getting it posted, so I wanted to make sure I had something ready to go this month! This month we had a beautiful inspiration picture to work from:

June-blog-hop

I always tend to take these challenges quite literally, and this month was no exception...

Not a lot of stamping on this one. Again, time was of the essence, and I think I spent the most time scouring my patterned paper stash trying to find a pattern that resembled the beautiful fabric in the pillow. I used a Harvest Gold 4 1/4 square base. I had cut the leaves from Ocean Tides felt, and made the little flower from Aqua Mist saddle stitch ribbon, and finished it off with a Tiny Tags stamped in Harvest Gold and New Leaf.

I have a few more cards I'll be sharing this week, and I'll be working on getting some life back into my neglected blog!

Thank you so much for stopping by!

WMS Sketch Challenge #100

Hey there and Happy Saturday! I'm just stopping in to play along this week with the Waltzingmouse Sketch Challenge Blog! It's their 100th Challenge, so I just had to play along! It is my first time participating with their challenges. This one is a big one, so it seemed like a good time to jump in! If you'd like to play along too, just click the link above! They have some great prizes, too! :)

This was the sketch:
WMSC100
And here is my take on the sketch:
I want to thank one of the mischief makers, and my sweet friend, Renee, for the very generous RAK I received yesterday! Almost everything on this card came from her, plus I have enough left to make many more cards! Thanks so much Renee! XOXO

Can you believe I even dusted off and used my Itop brad maker on this card? I've had that thing for at least over a year, and this is maybe the second time I've used it! I made the brad on the little doily flower that came from Renee.

Thanks so much for visiting! I hope to get more cards for this sketch posted soon!

Supplies:
Stamps: Paris Nouveau (WMS)
Paper: Venice by 7 Gypsies
Dies: Tiny Tags, Chevron borders, Mat Stack 4 and Layerz (PTI)
Other: Itop brad maker, doily flower, ribbon, twine, gem flourish

Celebrating 18

Hi there! Hope your week is off to a great start! Is it too soon to mention how much I'm looking forward to the upcoming Memorial 3 Day weekend!? If I'm honest, I've been looking forward to it since January! ;)
Our Nephew turned 18 on May 1st, and graduated high school last Thursday! It was such a sweet ceremony. We are so proud of him! This was my first time attending a graduation ceremony since moving here from Florida. What a difference! His graduating class consisted of 20 kids! My high school had hundreds! I think I would've liked going to school with the same 20 people every year! I don't do well with crowds, and in my high school I felt lost in a sea of kids! Anyway...
This is the card I made Sam for his 18th birthday.

I just want to share one more thing real quick...a new addition to our family!
Sorry for the bad photo...I took it with my phone this morning. But that is our new dog, Izzie! We are so excited and in love with her! Friday night we were on the front porch, and she came running up all excited with her brother, and they were just like, 'we're home!'. We woke up Saturday morning and they were still on our front porch! My mother and Father-in-law took her brother, the black lab who they named Max, and we kept our Izzie! They seem to be older puppies, less than a year, maybe? So, we suspect that someone probably dumped them off on the side of the road somewhere, and we were lucky enough that she found her way to us! She is just so sweet and good! If you haven't followed my blog long, or don't remember, my Miniature Pinscher of 13 years passed away a couple days before Christmas. We'd really been wanting another dog, but also wanted to wait until it was the right time and the right dog. Well the right time was Friday, and the right dog was our perfect lil' Izzie! I will definitely have more and better picture soon!
Thanks so much for humoring me and hanging in there while I gushed about our new baby! :)

Paper: Kraft, Simply Chartreuse, Rustic White, Echo Park for patterned paper

MIM #66

Hey there! Hope you are having a nice weekend! I finally got around to playing around with a Make It Monday again. I made a card for one a couple weeks ago, then didn't get around posting it. I actually have a few cards I need to catch up on posting, so I'm hoping to catch up this week a bit.
Anyway, this week Ashley challenged us to use our border dies to create flowers for our cards, and this is what I came up with:

I used the rickrack border die to create my little buds. I also used some felt I just got in from Ellen Hutson in Buttercream and Mac ~n~ Cheese. I think Mac~n~Cheese is a funny name, but it is the perfect way to describe the color! I actually used the rick-racks that I cut out on the card, and used the negative cuts to make the flowers. I recently bought the Sweet Baby set off the forum, and got the dies with my April order, so wanted to use them. I don't need or make baby cards very often, but I'd always loved this Sweet Baby set and just got the Gingham background set by Impression Obsession, also from Ellen Hutson, and thought this MIM would be a good excuse to use them together!
Anyway, I'm going to get back into my craft room while I have some weekend left! :) Time just flies so quickly on the weekends, and there is always so much to do!
Thank you so much for stopping by! I'll be back real soon!

Sending Prayers

Hi, there! Happy Hump Day! Over half way through the week, now! Just stopping in to share a card I made a couple weeks ago. I actually needed 2 sympathy cards within 2 days of each other, which is never a good thing, especially when they are for your close family...my sister and a woman who has always been like a second mother to me. Anyway, I cheated and made the following card for both of them.

I used Iconic Images for the vase and flowers, and Beautiful Butterflies for the sentiment. The paper is October Afternoon. I used the button card die for my layers, some rustic cream twine, and bling from K & Co.

That is all for today! I hope to be back soon!
Have a great rest of your week!

Papertrey Ink April Blog Hop

Blog-hop-logo

Hey there! It's time for April's Blog Hop for Papertrey Ink! I almost didn't participate this month, but I decided after work last night, that I would try to come up with something...

This month we had an inspiration challenge. We were to make a card or project using inspiration from:

Blog hop inspiration

For some reason this was a little tougher for me. And with the limited time I had to make my card, this is what I came up with:

A little different from my usual cards. I drew my inspiration from the colors and patterns of the fabric. I used Friends Till The End and dies. I cut the flowers from Papertrey's Damask Pattern Paper to go along with the damask in the fabrics. I also used flowers as my focal point to go with the flowers in the fabric. I chose the Polka dot paper from Funky Town to go with the polka dot fabric. Finally, I chose to use the doily and white trim to soften the look a little, like the inspiration photo.

Well, that's all for me today! I can't wait to see what all you talented Papertrey lovers did with this inspiration photo! I'm sure you will all blow me away, like always!

Thanks for taking the time to stop by my little corner of the web!

Supplies: (All Papertrey Ink, unless otherwise noted)
Paper: Stamper's Select, Damask patterned paper, Funky Town pp
Stamps: Friends Till the End, Tiny Tags
Dies: Friends Till the End, Tiny Tags, Doily
Other: 1/4" Silk Ribbon, Papertrey vintage buttons, Queen & Co gems,

Hello you

Hello you! Long time no see! Sorry for my absence from my blog...I have been going through a dry spell. I have just been having the hardest time getting a card made! I have been trying not to force it, and just let it happen when it strikes me, and not put too much pressure on myself. My husband and I have been spending a lot of time in the yard and garden, which has been taking up most of my free, creative time. This is the first time I have ever really enjoyed working out in the garden! I just love seeing the results of our work!
Anyway, I did manage to get a card made this weekend, because as well all know, there is no cure for lack of mojo, like a new box of goodies! My Papertrey release order made it to me on Friday, so I was so happy to play with the new Trendy Trees stamps and dies! This is what I came up with:
I don't ever say this about my cards, but I love this card and how it turned out! So cute, right? I also caved and bought the 'Meadow' hill dies after seeing Betsy and other designers using them with these trees. So, I started with the patterned paper, and pulled colors from the flowery pattern to stamp the trees. I stamped them in Pure Poppy, the new Hibiscus Burst, and Summer Sunrise. I am really loving this stamp set, so I'm sure you'll be seeing lots more of it from me!

I do have another card that I'll be back soon to share.

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Papertrey Ink March Blog Hop

Blog-hop-logo

Hello, Blog Hopper's! This month we had an inspiration picture to use for our project.

Blog hop inspiration

I really loved this picture! I had just recently pinned something very similar to this! So, I really enjoyed working with it! This is what I came up with:

Please excuse my picture quality. They changed around my usual photo editor, photobucket, and when I try to upload my fixed pics, it loads the original photo. So, I went a different route, that I am not happy with. I will figure it out later. I just wanted to get my card linked up. :)

Anyway, I went with Harvest Gold ink and Polka Dot basics II for the background, which reminded me of one of the candy toppers. And the Aqua Mist base and silk ribbon was also brought in from the photo.

Thanks so much for taking the time to stop by! I'm off to see what everyone else did! I'm sure there will be some amazing creations!

Make It Monday #57, Colored Kissing

Hello! Happy St. Patrick's Day! No. No green cards from me. I am just stopping in to share the card I made for this week's Make It Monday, which is about Colored Kissing. I always wanted to try this technique, and was glad to have a reason to finally try it! I worked on this card a little after work a few nights this week, and finally finished it up this morning. I am not thrilled with the card, but I like how the Kissing technique turned out! I found that I don't own a lot of stamps that this technique will work well with, so when I stumbled upon the On My Couch set and saw the solid couch, I decided to roll with that! This is what I came up with:

I used On My Couch and Background Basics: Newsprint for the technique.
Patterned Paper is Echo Park, This and That.

Thank you so much for stopping by! Have a GREAT weekend!

a jump start on Father's Day

Before Mother's Day? Crazy, I know! You see, last weekend I was sitting at my craft desk playing with Background Basics: Medallions. I just can't get enough of that stamp set, and I love playing with different color combos with it! So, I just sat there stamping different color combo mats on Saturday night. When I went back in on Sunday, I picked one of my stamped backgrounds I really liked, Dark Chocolate and Canyon Clay, and made a card with it. It seemed like it would make a good masculine card, which I seem to be on a masculine kick lately, and this is what I came up with:

I also stamped the smaller of the Medallions with Simply Chartreuse ink on SC paper, and die cut with Turning A New Leaf. The sentiment is Happy Day onto Limitless Layers Ovals.

I hope to get a lot of stamping in this weekend! I have a card sitting on my desk for this week's Make It Monday that just needs a little finishing up, so hopefully I'll be back to post that tomorrow!

Have a GREAT weekend!!!

Supplies: (All Papertrey Ink, unless otherwise noted)
Paper: Dark Chocolate, Canyon Clay, Simply Chartreuse, Stamper's Select White
Stamps: BB:Medallions, Happy Day
Dies: Limitless Layers Ovals, TANL
Other: Canyon Clay buttons, Rustic Cream button twine

A quick card

Hey all! Happy Monday! Are you hanging in there after loosing an hour of sleep? I'm hanging in there, but I did not like it when my alarm was going off at what felt like 4am! At least it will feel like I am getting home earlier, right?
Anyway, here is a quick card I made with some new goodies I got in the mail on Friday!

The patterened paper, felt and dies were the new goodies I got from Ellen Hutson. That felt is really nice and inexpensive! I got that tan/kraft color, and 2 shades of blue similar to Enchanted Evening and Spring Rain. You get a large sheet for $1.60 or $2.00! I will definitely be buying more! I don't know if you can tell in the picture, but my Framed Out frame has glossy accents on it, like Maile showed a couple weeks ago. I liked the way that looked. I hope you like it, too! Thanks so much for stopping by, and I'll be back soon with another card!

Supplies:(All Papertrey Ink, unless otherwise noted)
Paper: Kraft, Stamper's Select, Studio Calico patterned paper
Stampes: Framed Out #1, Modern Wood Mats
Dies: Framed Out #1, Double-ended banner, Edger #1, Memory Box flowers
Other: Rustic Cream Button twine, Felt

Have a GREAT day!
